About the Program

Overview

The Olympics Project is a comprehensive 3-credit-hour course that blends virtual learning with on-site experiences during the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games. It is designed to immerse students in the production of written, visual, and digital stories about various aspects of French culture and the Olympic Games. The course includes Zoom meetings in the U.S., fieldwork in Marseille, Lyon, and Paris, and attendance at Olympic events.

Dean Bissell's Vision

Inspired by her extensive experience leading study abroad programs and having previously directed 12 such programs at the University of Alabama, Dean Bissell aims to provide a transformative experience for students, emphasizing the transformative impact of cultural immersion and the unifying power of sports.
